Hello from the studio! It’s a beautiful, sunny 60-degree day here. There are birds chirping and things turning green, and it all feels very April-y. I even saw a huge dragonfly outside yesterday, which made our internet outage much more tolerable. Tbh, I’d be enjoying the weather more if allergy season hadn’t hit our house so hard this year. I’ve been the least affected, but outside of blowing noses and washing my hands on an infinite loop, it’s been hard to get this email written, much less get anything else done. Between you and me, I started writing this last Friday. 😬 But I want to drop in and let you know what I’ve been up to and what’s coming up, so I'm determined to send it today! But first… are you new here?I’ve added several new subscribers recently; if that’s you, welcome! You might have come across me in a variety of different ways: through my art, at a local market, via my Resist zine, my writing on Substack, my podcast, or through my graphic design work. I’m a multi-passionate creative with a lot going on. 🤷♀️ However you got here, I’m happy you are! I send 1-2 studio newsletters each month letting you know what's happening around here, along with occasional emails on new podcast episodes or other exciting things. I give you options to unsubscribe from anything you aren’t interested in seeing, and try to keep things useful and honest. I keep meaning to add an introduction email for new subscribers, but in the meantime you can learn more about me on my website, or feel free to hit reply and say hi or ask me a question. Just be patient please, I'm a real live human person doing my best to balance all my interests, answer emails, and stay hydrated. It’s great to meet you! New podcast episode next weekSpeaking of the podcast, I took some time last week to plan a few upcoming episodes for The Anti-Hustle Podcast, as well as some posts for my personal Substack, and I’m itching to sit down and work on those. My goal is to have a new podcast episode out later this week. In this one I'll be sharing my thoughts on doing business during uncertain times, particularly as a solopreneur or maker. I went through the 2008/9 financial crisis as a young, just-out-of-college entrepreneur married to a self-employed custom home builder. It was scary and uncertain, and I made it. I feel like I have some thoughts to share in this even more uncertain moment. So if that’s something on your mind as well right now, make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts (or here) so you’ll be notified when that episode comes out. Come see me in real life!Speaking of making, I set up at my first local market of the season last weekend, and my second one is coming up later this month! If you’re local, I’d love to see you at Jackson Square on the 27th for the first Sunday Market of the year. I’ve been going through my sketches from the last several months and will have a few new pieces, as well as new sizes of my current stuff. I’ll have art prints, stickers, notecards, hand-bound copies of the Resist zine, and you can register for my in-person zine workshop coming up at the end of May. (If you’re local, you can also sign up here.) I hope to see you there!
